We are here to serve you, the gardeners of North Central Minnesota. Our mission is to make you as successful as you can be in your outdoor growing and decorating efforts. We have 25+ years experience of growing plants in the Aitkin area and have selected what we think are the best performing plants for this area to grow and sell. Great River Gardens has the most complete selection of annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, fruit, tropicals, water plants and native plants for many miles around. We also carry all the supplies you will need to be successful and free advice from a Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association Certified Professional. You can use this website to choose the plants from our collection that will serve whatever purpose you have in mind, selecting them based on color, height, sun/shade requirements, etc. Find the ideal trees, shrubs, vines, groundcovers and perennials for your landscapes and gardens by searching through the hundreds of plants that we carry each season. You can even create your own plant list, print it out and bring it into the store!

The Best Plants, Service, Produce And More!

At Great River Gardens we're not satisfied until you are. We have two complete Garden Centers to serve you, located in Aitkin and McGregor, open every day of the week throughout the growing season. Great River Gardens has a Landscaping Division as well, which has done beautiful work thoughout the area for several years. The Landscaping Division does planting, builds patios, walls and walkways, water features, irrigation systems, lakeshore restoration and more. At Great River Gardens we grow almost all the plants we sell on our own farm. You are welcome to come out to the farm to tour our facilities or shop for plants from the production range. We're called Great River Gardens because the farm is bordered by the Mississippi River, on US Highway 169, ten miles northeast of Aitkin. We also grow Asparagus, Blueberries, Strawberries, Raspberries, Sweet Corn, Melons, Tomatoes and more on the farm, which we sell U PICK on the farm, at the Garden Centers, at several local Farmers' Markets and through our CSA program, a subscription service for 6 months of fresh produce.

Directions:

Our Garden Centers are located on Highway 210/169 on the east edge of Aitkin and in downtown McGregor, Minnesota by the RR tracks. Our 80 acre farm is located on the Mississippi River, on Highway 169 ten miles NE of Aitkin, Minnesota. You can also find us at the Brainerd, Crosslake, Grand Rapids and Nisswa Farmers' Markets in the summer.
